Foundation Repair Indications
By Ken Marlborough

If you are a homeowner you probably already know the signs of a potential foundation problem. At the first sign of damage you should immediately have it inspected by a trained professional. Delaying action could cause the value of your home to significantly be reduced due to the damage. Or ever worse, completely lose your home all together and have it declared uninhabitable. There are many different signs of potential problems. You will be able to see it from both outside and inside your home.

Exterior Signs:

There are certain obvious signs you will be able to see from looking at the outside of your house. For instance, having doors that do not close properly, as well as having gaps in between the garage door and pavement at either side of the garage door could be an early indication that you may have foundation damage.

Other indications include seeing cracks in the walls at the corners of doors and windows, as well as cracks in bricks and mortars. If you see one or more of these signs on your home you should seek professional help as soon as possible.

Interior Signs:

You might also be able to see signs of possible foundation damage inside your home. If you notice that all of a sudden your floors are no longer even, or if you see large cracks in the concrete slabs it is quite possible that you have damage. Other indications include having gaps in your kitchen cabinets, as well as having leaks and cracks in and around your fireplace. Seeing these signs in your home indicates that something may be wrong, which should not be ignored.

Even though some of these damages may simply be cosmetic in nature and not necessarily structural, you will never know unless you have it inspected by a professional trained to assess these types of damages.
