It has the ability to add or retract humidity from the air as too little moisture in the air can be uncomfortable and too much can also be uncomfortable. These come especially useful when you need to go off on camping or hiking trips and can help to reduce the humidity of the inside of your tent for a much more enjoyable sleep. These types of device will probably operate of the same gas cylinder you use to cook your food.
These types of dehumidifier will cool the air as well as control the humidity, which makes them particularly useful for fluctuating climates. So for the colder winter months when humidity is low the device will put more moisture into the air and undertake no cooling and when it is hot remove moisture and cool simultaneously.
