Problems With Hiring Contractors Who Don't Speak Your Language

I don't know how to say this any other way. If you don't speak the same language as your contractor, you're going to have problems and these problems aren't going to be small problems either. If your contractor doesn't speak the same language as you, you should hire them.
I don't know how many times I witnessed someone hire a contractor that didn't speak the same language that they did. That's right, who in their right mind would ever do something like that, but they do and I will tell you why. It's all about the money. These people are usually unlicensed contractors, giving you the impression that they are licensed.
If you live in the United States where English is spoken and your contractors test is in English, there's a good chance that your contractor didn't take this test, especially if he can't read or write and even speak this language. Am I starting to make any sense and if not, get ready for this?
How important is it to communicate with your contractor? This is obviously very important and I would like to share something else about communication problems with you. The homeowner showed the landscaping contractor which trees she wanted to keep, not the ones she wanted to remove. The contractor nodded his head up and down, signifying that he understood what she was saying.
I forgot to mention the fact that these were large trees and you're probably not going to believe what happened next. Instead of removing the other trees that she wanted, he removed the trees that she wanted to keep, while she was gone on vacation.
This is only one incident with someone who couldn't communicate effectively because they didn't understand the other person's language. If you're going to use someone who doesn't speak the same language, it wouldn't be a bad idea to find an interpreter.
It would be much better, to find a contractor who does understand your language and won't be making mistakes like this. By the way, this isn't the worst story that I ever heard about and I don't think it's going to be the last one either.
