How to Find a Fence Contractor You Can Trust

Finding a Fence Contractor that will build a quality fence, not run off with your money, and give a good price, is a big deal. When spending your hard earned money, the last thing you want is a fence that want last, to hand your money over and not get a fence at all, or to find out later you paid three times to much for your Fence.
In this article we will talk about a few steps you can make to feel more comfortable about your decision on which contractor to use.
The first mistake I see people make when purchasing a fence is they will only get one bid. You always want to get at least three face to face bids to be confident of the prices that are given to you. This will ensure you that you are getting a competitive price on you purchase. The reason I recommend face to face bids is you should treat this process like a interview and you are the boss. When hiring a person for a job you always want to make a effort to get the best person for the job.
Which brings us to the second mistake I see people making. They will get several bids and automatically go with the lowest bid, I am not saying that the lowest bid is not the best bid, if you feel confident with that contractor. If for any reason you do not feel confident, you should think about choosing one of the higher bids.
The third mistake I see people make is they either do no research at all, or they go to some online review place to see what other people say about that person. I am not saying these places are not helpful, but the truth is 90% of people do not leave comments, unless they have some kind of incentive to do so or they had a problem and want to report it. Most of the people that a contractor has done work for will not post a comment. Also in these types of places anybody can comment including the contractor himself using different email accounts, brothers, sisters, uncles and friends.
The best research to do is referrals and I do not just mean three phone numbers. At least five phone numbers including addresses. This enables you to talk to the people directly and to see the work they perform with your own eyes. We are talking about your money here, do not just hire some Joe blow or listen to what someone says, find out for yourself. Before you hand over your money make him prove that he can be trusted. Trust is not given it is earned!
The last suggestion is probably the most important. Be sure you feel comfortable with the person himself. After he has earned your trust. Ask yourself, is he the kind of person worth hiring. If you have any question or do not feel comfortable with him, find someone else. The normal fence last up to 20 years or longer, so remember this will be a choice you will have to live with!
