What Should You Do With Your House?
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Brad_Huber]Brad Huber

In todays post real estate bubble, many people homes have devalued from what many thought was a high that would never go down. Due to this fact many people are discouraged that the home that they thought was worth so much is now worth less if they were to sell it. And that is the real key, the value is less only if you need or want to sell it. In reality though the real and true value is identical to when they bough there house, that value being as a residence to live in. In that sense nothing has in fact changed, and that is where this frustration really comes from - people try to convince themselves that a house or a home is an investment when really it is not.

It is in fact your home. When the "value" of a home goes to half of what it was bought for, the intrinsic value as a place to live, eat and sleep is still 100% in tact. With this adjustment in mindset many people will have a much better outlook on everything.

With this fundamental in mind what should a person do with the house that they own? Enjoy it and live and enjoy life. At the same time if there are any upgrades or improvements that someone would like to do to their house now would be the time to do it, since selling it in the near future is probably not a true option, but enjoying it is. Another reason that this may be a good idea now is that there are many builders and re modelers available and it really is a buyers market, so it is possible to get a pretty good bang for your buck now.

When will this approach do for you? Well, you will have a home that you are enjoying and don't really want to move on to another house. Also when the market does rebound, your home will stand out as better because of the upgrades an improvements that were made, so it may sell better, quicker or for more money. Always remember though that a home is not an investment, it is a place to live.
