Sound Reduction - 10 Ways to Make Your Home Quieter
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=M_James]M James

If you're concerned about the volume you have your TV, or play your music, then perhaps you need to make your home quieter for the sake of other family members and your neighbours.

Here are 10 ways to make your home quieter.

1. Don't have the TV on too loud. Although it may be tempting to try and get the best from your large screen TV, and home-cinema quality surround sound system, it can be disturbing to others. Maybe you could limit your loud TV night to the weekend, or when others are out.

2. Even if other family members enjoy your choice of music, it doesn't mean that they will enjoy it loud, and at whatever time of day or night you play it.

3. You might want to consider using headphones with your TV, games console or hi fi, so that you can enjoy yourself without disturbing others. A decent pair of headphones can be expensive, especially if you want comfort and sound quality, but will mean that you don't have to limit when you can crank up the volume.

4. If you or your children play a musical instrument, or are learning to play, you might not have the full backing of your family when it comes to practicing. You might need to limit your practicing to when other family members or neighbours are out, so that you don't disturb them too much.

5. Why not think about using timers on appliances so that they are working whilst you are out working? Wouldn't it be great to come home after work and find your washing machine and dishwasher have finished? This means that you don't have to put up with noisy and vibrating appliances during the evening.

6. Instead of shouting from room to room, why not physically move and go to the relevant room and talk to people. It's much more personal, and doesn't give the message that shouting to people all the time is acceptable.

7. Have some consideration for your neighbours. Remember, if you can hear them, then they can hear you.

8. Bear in mind that people have different bed times, and shift workers, and those with small children, might go to be or be asleep at very different times to you.

9. It might also be a good idea to let the neighbours know if you're going to be having a party, or will be taking on a DIY project that will be noisy or disruptive.

10. If you think that all of this sounds too restrictive, or means that you'll have to cut down on your entertainment, or family time, or doing the things you're passionate about, then why not consider an alternative? Why not fit sound insulation or acoustic flooring to dramatically reduce the amount of noise that can be heard and felt in your home, so that you can enjoy your TV late at night, or play your guitar when you want to?

Now you know more about how you can make your home quieter, why not see how sound control and sound reduction products can allow you to play your music loud or enjoy the latest Hollywood blockbuster on your home cinema system, without disturbing other people in your home, or your neighbours.
