Stairlift is a great invention of the modern world, designed to solve the problem of those who have a difficulty in moving about the stairs for some reason. For example, elderly people or people with some sort of disability are unable to climb up and down the stairs and therefore, become dependent on others for moving about the stairs.

In the past, the only solution was to design homes with only a ground floor to avoid the need for climbing stair. Nevertheless, not many people are fortunate enough to have enough space on their property to make a spacious home only on the ground floor. Such people had to face great difficulty in the past. However, with the help of stairlifts, this problem has been reduced largely.

Stair lifts can be installed in almost all kinds of staircases and can be used by almost everyone with ease to move up and down the stairs. Stairlifts typically consist of a chair type apparatus attached with a motor and a rail track on which the chair slides. There are different kinds of stairlifts available in the market, which can be selected by the customers to satisfy their needs.

Curved stairlifts are those, which are custom designed for individual customers. They are designed by the companies to fulfil the needs of their individual customers, based on the type of staircases they have. The type of stairlift depends upon the kind of staircase for which the individual customer wants to get it built.

Let's suppose a structure contains a staircase that is curved and is built in a unique design. Now, only those stairlifts can fit on such stairs, which are specifically designed for them. Curved stair lifts are the solution to such a problem. Although, they might be a bit more expensive than the normal stairlifts, they are the only option for such staircases.

Sometimes, even custom designed staircases are built on standard specifications according to the prebuilt stairlifts, which are relatively cheaper than those designed for special staircases are. Various companies provide different types of curved stairlifts with different features to provide comfort and ease of use to the customers.

Most curved stairlifts are DC powered and are compact, so they don't take much space for installation. Some stairlifts can be installed on the railing of the stairs while others are installed on the sidewall to provide better support. Almost all stairlifts are fitted with standard safety features such as safety belts, emergency breaking system, and safety key feature, which prevent unwanted people from using them.

Refurbished curved stair lifts are also available in the market, which are relatively cheaper than the new ones. The only difference in the installation of many stairlifts is that of the railing design, while even refurbished stair lifts can be used on new rail fittings.
