Cascading Hangars to Organize Your House
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jay_Vy]Jay Vy

Humankind have been hanging up clothes for thousands of years so it is surprising to find out that the modern clothes hangar, shaped in the form of sloping shoulders wide enough to just begin to fill the sleeves, appears to have been first invented by Thomas Jefferson, although this first hangar was not developed until it was rediscovered toward the end of the 19th century. Even more surprising is that many novel improvements on the clothes hanger did not arrive until much later in the 20th century.

Perhaps the most dramatic of these improvements was the cascading hanger. This hangar has one hook in the middle to hang on a rod, but the sloping metal or wood or plastic that fits into the clothes are duplicated, one below the other, with each such cascaded hangar attached not to the holding closet rod, but rather to the hangar immediately above it. In that way one hook that hangs in the closet can hold up to a dozen items of clothing!

The cascading hangar has many styles. Some hangars have all of the attached hangars far below each other, so that the many items of clothing span a large vertical distance. This style requires a lot of room from the holding closet clothes rod to the floor, but has the advantage that each item of clothing does not press next to the others; in this way they are more efficient of space.

Cascading hangars are not only used for coats or clothes. Their economy of space design makes them ideal for holding kitchen items, plants, tools or shelving, and they may be made of wire, steel, chain, or wood. Such hangars are ideal for organizing closets and kitchens and workshops. It is only within the last few years that cascading hangars have become widely used, as their value to the home organizer have become well known through television and print.
