The Pros and Cons of Commercial Stucco
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Chris_Cornell]Chris Cornell

Stucco has been used since ancient times to protect the structural integrity of buildings by adding durability and strength. Commercial stucco is used on both commercial and residential building surfaces around the world.

It is available in a number of different formulations. These contain a variety of additives designed to add to the longevity and durability of the stucco, as well as to enhance its appearance. Sometimes it is known as plaster, although this is made in reference to the lime-based coatings. You can apply it directly onto cement, brick wall, wire mesh or wooden frames.

Other than being inexpensive, one of the other reasons commercial stucco is popular is its durability. It is for this reason it is widely used on business premises. Stucco also allows builders to add texture and hide the less visually appealing aspects of a building such as cinder blocks or clay bricks that used in the original construction. It can be used as a protective coating for walls and ceilings. A variety of looks is also available as commercial stucco can be tinted to any shade that is wanted to improve the aesthetic value of a building. Besides that, it is also mold, fire and water-resistant.

It is a rigid material that doesn't respond well to changes in weather and temperature. Constant expansion and contraction of the stucco layer over the years can lead to cracking and flaking, following which patch up repairs will be required. Although this material can be water-resistant, this is highly dependent on the manner it is applied to the structure. Improper installation and poor drainage will result in moisture collecting within the stucco layer, resulting in mold or mildew. Installation of a stucco layer can also be laborious and time-consuming. However, its durability makes it worth it in the long run.

Stucco is a way of enhancing the exterior of any building while adding to its longevity, despite the effort it takes to apply it.
