Right now, you would think the pirates of the Caribbean had partied here; instead, we simply supported, fed, and encouraged the junior varsity softball team as they studied for final exams. Okay, maybe that is not so different from entertaining Jack Sparrow and his pillaging pals. If I were not so flattered everyone likes my house and me, I would feel mortified: My house is a wreck. My home's current condition could supply the haughty PTA moms with gossip material until our girls graduate. With aggressive intervention and serious home aromatherapy, however, I think I can restore this place to its Martha Stewart magnificence.
I cannot tell you how sorry and sad I feel it has come to this. I confess to you, my domestic sisters: My house desperately needs some serious, industrial strength, major league, immediate thermonuclear home aromatherapy-and I am not talking about a just a few candles here and there. I walk through my kitchen, and the counters cry out for more than just another cursory cleaning. They beg and plead for home aromatherapy-the deep cleansing and full restoration only liberal and lavish doses of lemon can give. The stove and refrigerator plead for healing household aromatherapeutic waters laced with loving citrus and enriched with soothing chamomile. I walk through the dining room, where hardwood floor would weep for a treatment of its own-a cleansing bath and then strong yet gentle massage with nourishing oils. And my carpets--my poor, poor carpets-covered in dog hair and debris, cry-out their own desperate pleas, wantonly wishing for a luxurious bath of aromatic oils to set free the dirt and debris, huddled and yearning to breathe free amidst dense carpet fibers.
Yes, my sisters in domestic management and environmental affairs, I reluctantly admit my whole house looks like a crime scene--worse than a crime scene, more reminiscent of something left behind in the lower Ninth Ward. The entire domicile and pretty much everything in it plaintively beg for aggressive, full-on, all-out, relentless treatment. Everywhere I look, even when I try to look away, I see another spot where loving lavage with properly healing home aromatherapy waters must wash away years of abuse and neglect. All around the door frames, fingerprints and grime beg for heavy doses of pine. Walls wish for restoration of their once bright colors and pure whites-the relief only major league, extreme treatment can bring. And the bathrooms? Oh, my sisters! Can you begin to imagine and commiserate? The bathtubs and tile enclosures yearn for strong and savage waters, relieving them from bondage to soap scum, hair and body oils, dirt and grime, and a million nefarious agents lurking in their drains. Only the best, most fierce and feral home aromatherapy can my poor bathrooms from their despair.
My beloved sisters and brothers, I freely admit that I willingly would walk away from my house's desperate need for a good clean. A salacious lascivious bath in all my favorite essential oils would do far more to restore my weary soul than any washing, scrubbing, sweeping, polishing and strengthening my already work-hardened little body. Yet just as I cannot refuse my children's little cries in the deep and dark of the midnight-"Mommy, I don't feel so good," so I cannot neglect my home's dire need for direct intervention with all the power, craft, and magic of skilled home aromatherapy.
