Qualities Count - In People and Houses Alike!
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Nancy_U]Nancy U

When asked what kind of people they admire and respect, people invariable indicate that they are impressed with someone who looks like a movie star, has the success of Bill Gates, and the character of Abraham Lincoln. They admire people who are selfless and patient, like Mother Theresa, intellectual and creative, like Thomas Edison, and humorous and fun-loving, like Robin Williams. The list goes on and on. Clearly, the qualities of individuals are what attract us to them.

The same is true of houses. Qualities such as looks and function impress us. Whether you are trying to make home a place that is aesthetically pleasing and functional for yourself, your guests, and an asset to your neighborhood, or if you are trying to give it the qualities that make it capture the interest of others so you can sell it quickly, qualities count!

Lots of carefully chosen and maintained little details can add up to a really big WOW! Look carefully at your home as you pull up from the outside. Look at it anew, instead of with the eyes that got used to the bushes which have been gradually growing too large and trim details which may have grown neglected with the passing of time. With bush clippers, edge trimmers, and elbow grease, huge improvements can be made.

Look at your house numbers, shutters, trim paint (especially around the doors where people walk close to it), house lights, mail box, fences, and any fence gates. These trim items should all work together in a style which complements the style of your house and expresses your tastes. In relation to the cost of your home, these are relatively inexpensive details to replace; new architectural accent items can take the exterior of your home from drab to fab! Use the highest quality you can afford. Guests to your home will appreciate the feel your upgraded home gives them, and so will you.

For even bigger improvements to that visual appeal, look at your garage door. Replacing it and adding a little decorative molding, while a little more expensive than the other items mentioned, creates a great impression. This is usually beyond the scope of DIY, but there are many companies which can provide this service for you.

We've all heard it said that the devil is in the details. Follow the tips above, and it can look like Candice Olsen is in the details in your home! Let the quality details of your house turn it into a home that gains the admiration of others, and of the people that count the most: you and your family.
