Portable Sinks Provide a Multitude of Uses

Even though today we have hand sanitizers that fit into a purse, pocket, or glove-box, there are times when only a thorough hand-washing will do. Think about the times you have barbecued and needed to wash the charcoal (or barbecue sauce!) off your hands. In those instances, a hand sanitizer is just not going to cut it. That's where a portable sink can really come in handy, particularly for outdoor activities that are not situated close to a kitchen or restroom where you can use the indoor sink, such as in a park or a campground. It used to be that a portable sink only offered cold water, but these days they can give you hot or cold water, or both. They are made for a variety of uses, and have become more convenient to transport. Portable sinks can now be purchased with single or double bowl, and offer efficient hot water on demand features.
Many daycare centers and preschools have added toddler-sized portable sinks to their playgrounds, encouraging kids to wash up outside before coming back in. Not only does doing so instill good habits in the children, but also alleviates a big mess in the indoor restrooms. Professional caterers have known the value of portable sinks for some time, as having access to a sink is almost essential to keeping food preparation and serving areas sanitary, but is not always feasible based on where the serving will take place. Whether outdoors or indoors in an auditorium or conference-room type venue, a sink is imperative for food-service workers who must remain in the area where the food is fixed and served. Barbers and beauticians sometimes visit folks in a skilled nursing facility that does not have salon stations, and so must bring a portable sink.

These sinks not only provide convenience for the hair stylist, but also provide comfort for the customer, and if you have ever tried to wash your hair in a regular sink, you can understand why. We all know that dipping that spoon into cold water helps to scoop the ice cream out of the container, but how unappetizing is it to see someone put that scoop into a bucket of questionably clean water?

Finally, there are all sorts of safety uses for portable sinks, and those who have had the misfortune of having spent some time in a shelter after a natural disaster have most likely seen them in action in places of temporary lodging. Where workers are using potentially dangerous chemicals out in the middle of nowhere, you are likely to find a portable eye-wash station, which is essentially a specialized portable sink. Wherever one can benefit from clean running water in an area that does not provide convenient access, a portable sink is a natural choice.
