There are no great sites offering free deacons bench plans. Your best bet is to look through pay for plans companies which offer a comprehensive range of options with full working instructions. Some of these provide over 12,000 plans for all imaginable type and size of outdoor furniture and buildings. Most provide their services for $50 or less.
I have tried going it alone and with proper paid instructions and I know which method works best. The superior quality of the finished product is immediately apparent having followed professionally produced instructions. I don not care what anyone says. You will also gain the advantage of inside knowledge which, amongst other things, will expand your woodworking palette and expertise.
There are few things more exasperating than inadequate and insufficient models, diagrams and lists of materials. Trying to bluff your way through what turns out to be a bad job even worse executed leaves you cussing and growling. Again, I know; I have been in that place.
Multiple options allows input from the rest of the family and gives you the opportunity to express what you feel you can and cannot achieve. You can choose from a gamut of sizes, heights and depths depending on your requirements. And the girls often want to have an input on the aesthetic qualities of the overall appearance.
By all means give free deacons bench plans a try. However, if you want to be a little more adventurous about your garden, patio or decking look, a small investment in an extensive plans site is worth every cent.
