How to Change the Look of Your Home Instantly
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Chuck_R_Stewart]Chuck R Stewart

Americans are looking for ways to improve their homes without spending a lot of money.

The easiest way to change the look of your home is to change the color of the outside. This is especially true for wood or brick homes that have already been painted. The only things you would need to change the color of your brick home is San Antonio scaffolding to reach the higher sections of the house to paint if you want to change the color. If you want to remove the existing paint and go back to the natural brick of the home, you should use San Antonio sandblasting to remove the layers of paint. You may also like to have a pressure washer to clean away all of the debris off the home if you just want to paint over the existing paint.

The first thing you need to do is come up with a color idea. If you do not want to sandblast it back to its natural state, then choosing a color for the base of the brick home as well as any trim is an important one. Some neighborhoods and communities have strict covenant rules that may require the homeowner to get the colors approved first before putting it on their homes. Because colors can appear to look so different in sun and darker times of the day, it would be a good idea to select your top three choices and paint them on a big board. Put the board in an area that will get all different light during the course of the day. Whichever one looks the best should be the one to go with. The color of the trim around the windows, on possible shutters and the front door should also be tested in the same way. Now it is time to prepare the surface of the brick.

In order to prepare the brick for painting depends on the age of the home. If it is an older home, there may be many coats of different color paint on the brick. If this is the case, it really should be removed by a San Antonio sandblasting professional. This will bring the brick back to its original state and will take the paint that much better. After the sandblasting is done, use a pressure washer to remove dust, dirt and debris. Once it is dry, you can decide to leave it in its natural state or put a new color of paint on it.

Remove all of the shutters before painting as well as taping around the windows and other trim. Some paint contractors spray paint the outside of a home but honestly, hand brushing is preferable, particularly with brick. In order to safely reach the higher parts of the house you should use San Antonio scaffolding rather than ladders. The scaffolding is more stable for the painter and can hold the paint equipment on it as well. Hopefully the weather will be nice and dry for your painting project and you will have a new home shortly!
