Going For the Rustic Look With Log Cabin Vinyl Siding

Log cabins aren't necessarily all that comfortable. A lot of them are hard to heat and require a lot of maintenance in order to keep them in good condition. However, if you like how log cabins look, you can give your house a similar appearance through the use of log cabin vinyl siding. This is a lot less expensive than log cabin siding would be, and a lot easier to care for. Spray you siding with a power washer once or twice a year and you will be all set. Also, since it isn't made out of wood you don't have to worry about bugs or water damage or rotting. This siding is made to be able to stay looking nice from year to year without damage from the sun or bad weather.

There is a company called Timbermill that specializes in log cabin vinyl siding. They make a product that doesn't splinter, rot, or fade, and due to the foam backing it also isn't easily damaged in case of unfortunate circumstances. You can get this siding in Harvest Brown, Timber Wolf Gray, or Warm Cedar, and it comes with a lifetime limited transferable warranty that is good for 75 years.

Kaycan Vinyl Siding also makes some nice log cabin vinyl siding. You have your choice of two colors with their Montebello Log Siding System, Vermont Maple or Cypress. There is a contoured underlayment to add to the strength of the siding, as well as a Vapor Vent weep hole system. For additional strength the panels are thicker than most types of siding at 0.46 inches thick. The deeply textured wood grain finish is scratch resistant and doesn't fade. As with the Timbermill siding, you get a limited lifetime warranty.

Installing log cabin vinyl siding is easier than you might think since it most versions have some sort of panel locking system, and the siding panels are much lighter than regular log siding would be. There are even directions on the internet that tell you the best way to go about doing this. However, since it can be time consuming and frustrating for those who have never done it before, you might want to hire a professional that has experience with this type of siding.
