As the wedding season approaches we start to look forward to new ideas, projects and in general we look forward to a new season.
Studies have revealed that household chores, fix its and projects are among the most discussed topics in marriage. After all fixing the toilet, the steps, the creaky door, building the deck, etc. is not something anyone wants to do it is what they need to do and it isn't much fun. The goal here would be to make the job fun by working together.
As you are going to be with this person for a number of years, it makes sense to have fun with these fixes and projects.
To make this easier, each person should have at least some knowledge about the current project. For example if you are adding a deck to your home, decide on the materials to be used, how much to spend and who will do what part of this project. One partner may be better at using the saw and the other may be better at sanding or painting. If you have never done this before then you will discover some new talents together.
Another good idea would be to have each person have their own tools. This doubles the tools available to complete the project and, makes the project go more smoothly since you don't have to wait for someone to finish with the tape measure or the hammer to complete your job.
Having your own tools will smooth life over when it comes to finding them for another project; you don't have to ask anyone where their hacksaw, screwdriver, hammer, or anything else is if you put yours where you can find them.
Whenever you see the project for years you will have the memories to cherish of having accomplished something together. Just imagine the great stories you will have to pass on.
