Let The Sun Shine You Through The Cold!
By Anne Clarke

The basic definition of solar heating is the method of creating and designing a construct that will use the energy provided by the sunshine for the purpose of heating some place or some thing. Active solar heating takes the liquid or air it releases by using a pump. Then the solar collector will move the air or water into the building, storage area or any other institution. On the other side of the spectrum there is what is called passive solar heating. This method of solar heating relies on the design of the place it is going to heat, the structure of the place determines where the heat will collect and how it will be distributed.

Because of the rise in oil prices a rehabilitation program is now being accessed. The details of the project are rather complex, but overall what this would do is repair and/or improve the heliostats and increase the power of solar heating and other solar functions. A gas turbine will be installed at the top of the tower and mirrors, used to reflect light, would be replaced with solar cells. This type of solar heating will be much more fuel efficient and definitely much better for the environment.

A solar furnace is another type of solar heating that will capture the rays of sun to produce very high temperatures. What it does by this function is provides a concentrated solar flux which will then produce heat. The solar heating from a solar furnace can be used for all types of solar heating purposes. The purposes of solar heating by method of a solar furnace are things like generating electricity, produce hydrogen fuel, and can even melt rock or steel objects.

There is a great advantage to using solar heating today. And not just because of all the multiple innovations on the market-but to save money and to truly help save the planet too!
