Do We Need Air Purifiers and Why?
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Iavor_Angelov]Iavor Angelov

Air purifiers are very popular lately since they remove pollen, smoke, dust, mold spores and many other allergens from the air. They are based on ionization of air molecules and atoms. In view of the fact that we live in an age of pollution, we may think about clean air at least in our homes and working places.

The operating principle is as follows: air purifiers circulate the air in the room. They emit a positive charge and the particles in the room become positively charged as well. The metal collection plates (negatively charged) of the purifier attracts the particles and collects them. Then the air purifiers release the already cleaned air into the room. Today we can find many and different types of them. Some studies show that air purifiers can capture also micro-organisms like different viruses and germs. Pet dander is also a powerful allergen. People who suffer from asthma or any kind of allergy should use air purifiers since they reduce considerably the air contaminants like allergens. They do not use a lot of energy and you can find different sizes and in different shapes so you can choose a model suitable for your house, room, office etc.

You have to bear in mind that different purifiers trap particles of different sizes therefore you have to think what purifier you exactly need. Some of the air purifiers are using filters in order to capture the air contaminants. There is another type that uses an activate carbon and adsorbs volatile contaminants. This method is used for years and it is also very popular. Photo catalytic oxidation is another technique used in order to clean the air. It can reduce considerably the organic contaminants. It uses ultraviolet light in order to kill viruses and other micro - organisms as well. Air ionizer purifiers generate ions that attach to the air particles and after that a collector plate attracts them. There are ionizer purifiers with fans and without fans. The ones with fans are much faster. Besides, they are noise free and most of them are without filters so they are easy to clean as well.

Ionic purifiers are perfect for your bedroom, sitting room, study, office etc. and can be used in cars as well. Some of the ionizer purifiers have built - in antibacterial UV lamps that help neutralizing germs and bacteria as well as improve the quality of the air in the room. The contaminants that are removed from the air by the ionic purifiers are as follows (this is an incomplete list): tobacco smoke, nicotine, odors, viruses, dust, pollen, bacteria, dust mite, carbon monoxide gas, mold, tetrachloride, exhaust gases, fungi, particulate pollutants, smoke, frass, mold fungi spores, dead skin, pet dander, benzene, simple ether, low gravity solids etc. [http://ionic-air-purifiers.net/]Ionic purifiers produce moderate and safe quantities of active oxygen. The active oxygen destroys the contaminating agents, neutralizes their toxic properties and removes the odors.
