Choosing the Right Tile

Granite is and continues to be one of the more popular tiles purchased by homeowners right now. Due to its scratch and stain resistance, to go along with its stylish look it has become a favorite to be used on counter tops around the sink and is being used in bathrooms around the sink. On the reverse side it is a little dangerous to use it on your floors for granite is usually polished which causes it to be quite slippery. Putting it on the floor in your bathroom or kitchen where water is often spilled could make this product quite dangerous. My recommendation would be to make sure to use it to décor and build counter tops.
Limestone is another commonly purchased tile. It's much softer then granite which makes it much easier to work with. Limestone gives you a more of that old school look. The one set back with Limestone is...it does seem to stain a little easier then the Granite or Marble tiles. But if your looking for beautiful classic-look for an affordable price limestone is definitely the way to go.
Travertine has been a surprisingly popular stone. Travertine at first was used mostly on the floors but consumers liked the looks so much it has now evolved to being used on walls for decor. This stone is for the consumer willing to spend that extra money to get a great look. If you choose to go cheap with Travertine tiles (in my experience) it tends to chip. Its a little more brittle then other stones so when working with Travertine be care for if you mess up it will cost you more money on installation. So pay for the best.
