The ABC's of Trash Removal - Kiss That Junk Goodbye

Trash removal can be a serious headache. How on earth does all this junk pile up in the first place? Whether you are doing your spring cleaning, renovations on your house, or simply living your everyday life, you are certain to have a junk problem.
Junk removal doesn't have to be a huge pain. There are ways to get rid of anything you can think of, and there are trash removal services that are there to help. So what do you do with....
-Old Clothes
You can toss your old clothes, but here's an even better idea: Take them to the local thrift store or Salvation Army. Just throw them in a bag and drop them off at the receiving docks, and the folks there will be happy to take them off your hands. It doesn't matter what condition the clothes are in, somebody can use them. Just don't expect any money for them!
Another place you can toss your old threads is your local recycling center. In most urban areas there is a recycling center that will take just about anything you have to ditch. They can recycle the fabric of old clothes, and will even take shoes. Take a stroll through the yellow pages and call them to see what they will or won't take.
-Used Appliances
Why chuck what somebody can still use? Put an ad in the paper, list your appliances on an Internet message board, and give it to a friend. This is another hot item for the local thrift store and they will take just about anything. Is it a total wreck? If the "on" button doesn't even work, it's certified junk. Call a trash removal specialist or call the city and see when they pick up appliances.
-Unwanted Furniture
The best place for unwanted furniture is the alley or the curb in front of your house. You can arrange for the city to pick it up, or you can wait until some neighbor in need does. Before you put it out, check with your city's restrictions; they may not let you do that, and there can be a fine.
-Pieces of Your House
What do you do with drywall, cement or asphalt? This can get a bit tricky. It's not as simple as bagging it and tossing it in the dumpster. Most cities have restrictions about when they will pick up these materials, and they can be complicated.
When you're renovating and you're left with a bunch of house junk, it might be best to call junk removal specialists. For a major renovation job, count this as part of the expense and have it done right. After all that work on the house, you'll want somebody to just come and get your junk.
-Pieces of Your Yard
Some things from the yard, like clippings, small tree branches, fallen leaves and other small bits, can simply be bagged and put out with the trash. Other stuff, like big branches or tree stumps, needs to be hauled away by a professional.
Again, check your city's restrictions, and if it's a big job (or if you feel overwhelmed by the procedure), call a specialist and have it carted away quickly and easily.
-Dead Bodies
That's a joke, folks. In this case, call the police immediately and turn yourself in. You are a danger to everyone around you and should be put in a nice, comfy place with padded walls.
No matter what junk you've got piling up, there's always a way to get rid of it. If you're unsure, check with the city. If you just don't want to deal with the headache, call a trash removal specialist and have them take out the trash for you.
