By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Loida_Patino]Loida Patino

'A house doesn't need to be expensive to be called a home.' This is what I always believe. That's why I come up with this article and also to fulfill the promise I made to you, my readers, from my previous article, Personalize Your Home Style.

I divided this topic into parts since there are many architectural styles to be discussed but I chose only the most practical styles to make your perfect home affordable. I also incorporated simple personal tips on how to incorporate these architectural styles in the design of your homes. Let's start with my personal favorite Architectural Style.

The Egyptian Architectural Style

I have researched some of the most important features in the Egyptian Architecture. I just choose the ones which I believe can be used in your practical design. As I enumerate them I have inserted some tips on how you can use them.

- Pyramids

Make use of small blocks of sedimentary rocks to make it real. Decide on the height and base of the pyramid basing on 1: 1 proportion which is based on the actual proportion of the great pyramids of Giza. It can be a design for your fire places, or in your walls. Or make an actual model pyramid in your gardens, porches or lanais.

- Papyrus Design

Papyrus is a plant abundantly found in Egypt and sed as a medium for writing during the ancient times. It is commonly used as design for capitals of Egyptian buildings and temples. You too can adopt it in your interior or exterior column designs. Best seen on your doorways or balusters. You can color it using the Egyptian basic colors.

- Hieroglyphs

This is the writing of the ancient Egyptians. These are the representations of animals, human figures and things which is used to convey thoughts and records important events and stories from the ancient world. Can be perfectly incorporated in the doorway frames of the interconnecting rooms, large mirror frames or even on the shaft of columns. Can also be a design for your baseboards.

- Sphinx

You can bur representation of a sphinx or you can make use of your sculptor ability to make shape one. It can be placed beside your living room's sofa, guardian in your main door entrances or an accent in your hallways. For smaller sphinx representations, they can be used as display.

- Scarab

Scarab representation can be made use on the cabinet pullers, accent on frames, magnetic paper holder.

- Materials such as Stone and Granite

Stone blocks can be used as an accent on your walls, fireplaces, plant boxes, even the body of your bar counters. Granite on your table counter tops or flooring finishes.

- Use of basic colors such as Blue, Red, Yellow, Green and White.

These are the colors used by the ancient Egyptian arts and reliefs. Coloring your Egyptian inspired arts and designs can emphasize more of the impact of the architectural character adopted.

- Post and Lintel method of Construction

Construction method on Egyptian's columns and beams. Can also be adopted in your main door entrances design. Interior doorways, bar counter mini columns and beams,

- Small window openings and thick walls

Use this design if only necessary and is adoptable in your weather.

To add more of the idea, you can make cross stitch of these architectural features and different Egyptian inspired pictures and representations. Egyptian inspired paintings are also essential.
I am happy to share with you my thoughts and I am sure you have other ideas that are not mentioned in my article. Thank you for patronizing my literary works. More is coming up for you!!
