Wood stoves were invented to heat small areas where space was limited. They are free standing systems instead of built into the walls, and they traditionally have stove pipes instead of chimneys. Electric wood stoves are no less convenient. They are perfect for smaller rooms that either don't need as much steady heat from a furnace, or that are simply hard to keep warm. Yes, they are safe enough to keep in a child's room, with a thermostat that controls the amount of heat and safety glass. They are also safe to put things on, like books or picture frames.
Electric wood stoves are also fascinating to watch. They are designed to look just like real wood burning stoves, which means that the coals really glow, and flames really dance behind the glass. But the electric flames do not take extra energy. They only burn with as much energy as is needed for one or two small lightbulbs. And if you have children who are soothed by the steady burn of an electric flame, you can keep the flame going without using the heating element. That means that the investment in this type of stove will pay off year around, and not just in the winter months when it is necessary to keep the house warm.
Electric wood stoves range in price and size. Some are quite large, which means they need to be placed in larger rooms. Others are smaller and are great for tighter spaces. They are designed to look like the classic wood stoves that you would find in older houses, but have a sort of timeless class that will bring up the tone and flair of your living quarters.
