All About Hot Tub Chemicals
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Angelina_Gibsen]Angelina Gibsen

It is the water temperature that is the main culprit of bacteria proliferation in hot tubs. This is because the perfect temperature for a hot tub happens to be the ideal temperature for bacteria to thrive in. The two chemicals that are used to ward off bacteria growth are chlorine and bromine and they both come in tablet form for easy maintenance of hot tub water.

Chlorine however does have a smell that many people find offensive so if that is your case you can opt for bromine. The fact is that hot tub water has to be treated every day for it to be perfectly safe, because both chlorine and bromine tend to dissipate rather quickly.

There are test strips available on the market that make checking the level of either one of these antibacterial agents quickly and easy to do, so it is highly advisable to get some and use them. Right now the most accurate and easy to use test strips to use are marketed under the name of Aqua Chek and they only take 15 seconds to use.

Also, there are a few brands of automatic water purifiers that use tablets to gradually disperse chemicals into the water in your hot tub. Failing to maintain your water properly can lead to problems such as minor skin rashes or infections all the way up to major problems that can require hospitalization. Therefor, maintaining the water in your hot tub is a very important issue to be taken seriously.
