Avoid Getting Scammed By A Pest Control Company!

Can Your Pest Control Company Answer These 7 Questions?

1: Can I talk directly with the company owner?

Communication is the key to a successful experience. You want your pest control company to listen to your needs, clearly explain their solution and execute it. Ideally, a company owner performs your service. Thus eliminating middle management, faceless bureaucracy and rigid policies. Typically clients are happier when they find a local pest control professional doing the work individually, or at least directly managing every technician.

2: Can I cancel service anytime or do I have to sign a one year contract?

If a company insists on a one year contract, run the other way! There is no reason to be locked into an arrangement you don't want. However, not all problems can be solved in one visit and regular preventative control is best, but you should be able to stop service without penalty anytime. Look for a pest control company willing to earn your support with each service. Many of our clients have enjoyed our bi-monthly service for over 10 years because we get results and keep their properties pest free.

3: Will a salesman call on me?

Don't put up with salesmen and their high pressure, bait and switch tactics. An experienced pest professional should know your area well enough to give you a plan of action and a free quote right over the phone. A company should not need sales pressure to provide what clients want; effective, affordable, friendly pest control.

4: Is there an unconditional money back guarantee?

Insist on a unconditional, money back guarantee. You should not have to pay for service that don't make you happy. A reputable company will return a second or third time for free to establish control. If you still are not satisfied, they should return what you paid for the last service.

5: Are you licensed by the Structural Pest Control Board?

It is illegal to provide pest control services to a structure unless you are licensed. Each company and each individual technician must pass rigorous training and standards to maintain a license. They must carry their license with them and show it to you if you so request. You can check out the State Pest Control Board's website to find out if there have been any violations by a licensee. Make sure you are not dealing with an unlicensed, unqualified, uninsured, un-bonded and un-reputable company.

6: How effective is your service?

Many companies either don't know or won't tell you how often they have to return to do a free warranty service, but you should ask anyway. We see many stories in the national pest trade journals that mention re-treatment rates of 20% or more! That's a lot of disruption if it happens to you.

7: How long have you been in business?

At many companies you will get a secretary or salesperson who has no idea of the history and original vision of their company. That's just sad. With smaller family companies not only will you get a history of the company, you'll also be able to call them with questions you have regarding other topics. I refer people to gopher controllers, termite fumigators, and beekeepers all day long, and love doing it as I'm sure other companies do too. http://www.happypestcontrol.com http://www.pest-control-san-diego.com
