Pool Care - Keep it Clean and Clear
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ben_E._Anderson]Ben E. Anderson

When it comes to pool care, there are so many things you have to think about. There is regular maintenance, cleaning, predicting leaks and so much more. What if you decide to close your pool for some time because of weather? There are two ways to close down a pool; it all depends on if your pool is above ground or an in-ground pool.

When you are caring for your pool, you need to come up with a plan for when you want to close your pool. If you have an in-ground pool, you will need to check your pools water to make sure that the pH levels are where they need to be. Once you have checked the pool water, you need to shock your pool. By shocking your pool, you are jump starting your pool to clean itself. Now you wait for a day to continue closing down your in-ground pool. If there is anything in your pool, you need to clean it out so that it won't contaminate your pool later. After it is completely cleaned, you need to vacuum the pool. This will ensure that the pool has nothing in it. Leftover debris will make ongoing pool care far more difficult when you reopen your pool.

After vacuuming the pool, you need to pour in your closing kit liquid. There are many different types to choose from. Be sure to follow the directions when you have chosen what kind of kit you want. Check the lines to make sure there is no water inside of the lines to freeze or rot the line while your pool is not in use. When all the water is gone from the lines, you can remove the plugs in the pump. If your pool has a chlorinator, you will need to remove it for the duration of the time your pool is closed. Make sure your it is empty and has no water in it. This will help prevent the freezing and breaking of your chlorinator. If your pool has a heater, make sure it is off so that you don't try to heat nothing. This could cause a fire or cracking of your pool.

Now you need to focus on the obvious items in your pool care regimen. If your pool has a ladder or anything that is an additive, it needs to be taken down. This will prevent your closed pool from being a hazard. If you can remove the parts that are added, be sure that you completely remove the items. This will help you make sure that your cover will not slide or fall off.

Once all of the added items are taken off, you need to cover your pool. This will help keep people from falling as well as keep your pool safer from the harsh weather you might have. Put your cover on tightly so that it will not have any chance of falling off. Once your cover is on, you have successfully closed down your in-ground pool.
