Sauna Heaters & Stones - Understanding How They Work Best Together
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Benjamin_Wise]Benjamin Wise

The central part of any sauna is the heater. They must be specifically designed to be able to produce consistently high temperatures. There are several different varieties of heaters for saunas. The one that is generally used is the electric heater.

In rural areas, wood-burning heaters have a more popular appeal although gas and oil heaters are used at times but nowadays they are nowhere near as common.

There are two basic functions of the sauna heater. The first is to simply create heat and the second of course is to create steam. Stones are then placed on the sauna heater.

All traditional sauna heaters need stones. They serve the purpose of retaining heat that is given off by the heater. Beyond that they also need to produce steam when you throw water on them so as to produce the desired sauna environment. Since these stones are constantly heated and cooled, they have to have special qualities in order to withstand the fluctuating temperatures.

As a result of this not any old type of stone will do and some types of stones are better suited for your sauna than others. They should not give off any kind of smell and retain heat and cool down without cracking.

When purchasing sauna stones make sure there are no cracks also look for stones with a rough surface this enables them to release steam faster.

To conclude always be on the look out for ways to help your sauna work efficiently as this will save you money plus provide the best sauna experience.
