Today's Rain Does NOT Have To Equal Tomorrow's Mold!

It's the winter rainy season. Is there water dripping from a ceiling or running down a wall under a window? You're lucky! The worst leak in your home or commercial building is the one you are not aware of. The slow persistent leak that is not enough to collapse a ceiling or collect in puddles on the floor, these are the leaks that can lead to long term problems; rot, decay and mold.
Unknown, untreated water damage is the biggest culprit in the fungus problems that can lead to mold and major damages. Moisture can enter a home or building from many sources; the exterior building envelope (roof, walls, windows and doors), the heating/cooling system, plumbing leaks, overflows and even from pest infestations. It is important to be aware of potential leaks and identify the source of the moisture as soon as possible.
Infrared Thermography is the newest tool in the battle to identify and locate water and moisture problems. It allows a trained Thermographer to quickly scan entire wall, ceiling and floor areas for hidden moisture and air flow anomalies. An anomaly is any irregular area either hotter or colder than the surrounding materials. An infrared scan allows the Thermographer to "see" hidden problems long before they cause water staining, dripping and collapse.
We can not only find hidden moisture and air flow problems we can usually identify the source. This allows proper repair and remediation of the cause to prevent future problems. We can also determine the extent of the problem. Such as how far the water has traveled before it showed up and where it traveled from.
The goal of any water restoration is to eliminate the point of entry source, clean, disinfect or replace the affected materials and restore finished surface appearances. We cannot properly eliminate future problems without finding and correcting the source then cleaning and disinfecting the entire area affected by the moisture. A trained Thermographer with an Infrared Camera can be invaluable in locating all areas of moisture penetration, making sure there is no problem left behind and the remediation is completed properly.
Finding and eliminating moisture problems is one of the best ways you can maintain good indoor air quality. The health of the building occupants can be affected long before there are visible stains or obvious water damages.
