Having the right flooring in a home both adds elegance and functionality. When choosing a flooring material one must determine what elements the flooring will encounter. For instance, when installing flooring in a bathroom it would be wiser to use a ceramic tile or equivalent due to the moisture content associated to water spillage. Similarly, one would choose wood flooring for a den or hallway. Numerous materials of flooring are available as listed below.

Before installing any type of flooring the subfloor (A subfloor is an underlayment typically plywood or concrete that supports a finished floor). The subfloor should be level and solid. It is generally cheaper to purchase and easier to maintain. Width sizes vary and it comes in a variety of finishes. Consult with a flooring contractor when deciding on laminates.

Tile flooring: Tile flooring comes in an array of different materials and textures. Tile floors typically installed in kitchens and bathrooms because of their water repellant properties. Some of the more common types of tile are ceramic tile, which is a clay-based mixture. Resilient tile is an adhesive backed product typically 12 inches in width. Resilient tile is relatively inexpensive and easier to install. These tiles are low maintenance, as they are stain resistant
