Joe Przemielewski - General Contractor and Tool Hero
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jude_Herr]Jude Herr

Joe Przemielewski's interest in tools began at a young age. Born on the east side of Buffalo, he was the eldest son of a professional boat builder who once built a world record-winning boat in his Manitoba Street garage. Joe went on to become a mechanic in the military, serving in the US Army in Germany from 1957 to 1959. After returning to the States, Joe made his way up to manager at Carlings Beer Company before founding his successful family owned business, American Builders.

Although busy running a business and raising a family, Joe has always found time to give back to his community. He was a Union Steward for the Teamsters from 1952-1957. He served as a lector and usher at Resurrection Roman Catholic Church and has been an active member of the Resurrection Holy Name Society since 1970. He has been an active member of the Knights of Columbus since 1999 and the Cheektowaga Professional and Businessman's Association since 2000.

In 1991, Joe and his wife Justine joined the William Street Taxpayers Group to learn about the town of Cheektowaga and its working system. Soon after joining, he became steward, vice-president and then president of the organization. Under Joe's leadership, the membership grew from 20 to nearly 100 active members. Joe began a local newsletter and was an advocate for residents and local businesses. He encouraged communication with the town officials who were often invited to speak at and attend the Taxpayers Group meetings. In his words "We decided that what we wanted to do was to work together with people to solve problems and that is exactly what we do."

After 13 years with the William Street Taxpayers group, Joe stepped down in 2004. The Cheektowaga Chamber of Commerce awarded him "2004 Citizen of the Year". In September of 2007, the General Pulaski Association of Western NY awarded Joe the 2007 Polish Businessman of the Year.

At 73 years young, with four kids and four grandchildren and a wife of almost 45 years, Joe is still participating in his community. He works regularly with his son, who took over American Builders, and goes fishing and hunting as much as he can.
