Steam Sauna Benefits

As you can probably guess, there are many benefits to purchasing a sauna. If you asked 20 consumers why they bought their sauna you would no doubt receive several different answers.

The majority of people, who own a sauna, will probably tell you that the main benefit they have encountered is that of stress relief. In today's hectic world, there seems to be little time to relax. This fact makes the convenience of owning a sauna even more appealing.

Steam is an excellent way to relieve discomfort associated with many types of respiratory problems. Those suffering from chest congestion, bronchitis, laryngitis and sinus problems have all found relief, after a session in the sauna.

Many sauna users will attest to the fact that frequent sessions actually helps them ward off colds and flu, especially during the winter months.

For people not fond of exercise or for those who have difficulty exercising, a 20 minute sauna session offers the same benefit that of a brisk walk or other physical exercise. Heart rate is increased up to 75%. Blood flow is increased dramatically, as well, because of the heat the steam sauna produces.

Another one of the many health benefits of owning a sauna is healthier skin and a clearer complexion. When you sweat, in or out of the sauna, your body's impurities are naturally released through the skin. Since skin is the largest organ in the body, up to 30% of these wastes are eliminated, in this manner.

It has been said that sauna sessions can, in fact, stimulate the immune system. How does it occur? When you sit in a sauna, your skin temperature rises to approximately 104°F. (This number varies slightly, from person to person.)

This rise in skin temperature creates an artificial fever. Fever is the natural healing process that causes this stimulation, which in turn produces an increased number of white blood cells and antibodies that help to fight off illness.

If you are prone to frequent aches and pains associated with arthritis or excessive physical activity, in general... relaxing in a sauna can do wonders to improve the situation.

Saunas are safe, for the majority of consumers. If you have heart disease or high blood pressure is recommended you consult your physician before enjoying the sauna.
