Resurfacing a Garage Floor

If you are interested in resurfacing garage flooring, the following tutorial may come in handy for you. There are not many required materials, and as long as you have some basic idea of what you are doing, this should not be too hard a task for you.
The materials you will need are: The garage flooring coating, a squeegee, a 4-foot extension pole, a paint tray, a roller brush, a degreasing agent, a scrub brush, some sandpaper, a scraper, a roll of duct tape, and a utility knife.
Step by Step
The first thing you want to do is remove any loose exiting paint from the floor, using a scraper and the sandpaper. Make sure that any remaining paint is adhering well to the floor.
Next, you will want to cut through the coating, all the way down to the concrete. Use your utility knife, and cut an X pattern. Apply duct tape to this area, and yank the duct tape up in a quick, single motion. If a large amount of paint, around 25-percent or more has come up with the tape, all of the paint will need to be removed completely.
Remove any lingering grease or oil spots using the degreasing agent. Make sure to both scrub and rinse thoroughly. Scrub the surface clean and rinse thoroughly as you go along.
Once the floor has been cleaned, rinse the entire floor as thoroughly as possible and use a squeegee to remove any excess or standing water.
Make sure that the floor has dried completely, and then mix the concrete coating in compliance with the instructions provided by the manufacturer. Let the mixture stand for the recommended period, then begin to coat the floor with a ½" nap roller.
Make sure to work small sections at a time, always maintaining a wet edge to avoid leaving marks where the coating overlaps. Sprinkle decorative chips onto each section as you go along.
Allow the floor to dry for a full 24 to 48 hours before walking on it, or placing items on it.
Resurfacing your garage flooring will rejuvenate your entire garage, and may just inspire you to keep your work place clean and neat in the future. New garage flooring can do wonders for the look and feel of your garage.
