A garage organizer is extremely important to keeping your garage in order and well kept. Quite simply, your garage is a very important component of the home. It is usually the largest area, and often is the place that either visitors or passer-bys will see first. However, despite these facts, often times it can be the most disorganized part of your home because you often dump your belongings in the garage when you don't know what else to do with them.
When organized correctly, no area of your home has the potential to take the pressure of the rest of your home organization like your garage. If your garage is arranged for maximum effectiveness, it can store so many items that it will take a tremendous amount of pressure off the rest of your organization skills.
However, most people's garages are so crammed with junk that the garage is actually a hindrance to keeping organized. Here are some tips to help you establish a system that you can simply repeat time and time again to keep your garage in the condition it should be.
First of all, clean it out! If you are like most people, your garage is an absolute mess, and you don't have a clue what to do about it. Start out by simply getting rid of all the items you no longer use.
You will probably find that these items make up over 80% of the storage inside. Put these belongings in boxes and either throw them out or give them away to charity.
Don't get too caught up in this process. When you aren't sure what to do with an item, just make a decision and stick with it. Remember, organization is usually all about indecision-a lack of an ability to decide what to do with an item.
Most likely, if you aren't sure whether or not you will be using an item in the future, you probably won't be. If that's the case, discard it!
Buy a garage organizer to keep your things in order. Items such as boxes or shelves can go great lengths to keep your smaller items clutter free and where they should be.
Don't ever simply strew your items all over the floor. When you keep your items in a garage organizer and clearly labeled, finding them when you need to is a very simple and hassle free process.
Use hooks on the walls to make use of the vertical space your garage offers. These are especially useful for larger items such as bikes or lawn chairs. Most people get so zeroed in on the floor space that they forget their garage offers a lot of vertical space that, if they used it properly, could help them to instantly transform their garage's appearance.
Remember, when your garage is organized and well kept, it can take a huge burden off the rest of your home, because of the enormous amount of space it offers. Get your garage in order, and watch your home organization improve dramatically.
