Wrought Iron Railings Both Inside And Out
By Andrew Caxton

Wrought iron railings are timeless. This material is a great support structure for staircases. They don't go out of style. They fit in with any decor and give your home classic sophistication.

What are iron railings so ideal?

Especially for people who need support to ascend or descend a staircase, a strong railing is needed. Wrought iron is strong, enduring, easy to care for and does not go out of style. Although they cost more than wood, they are very enduring and strong and can compliment any décor. They do not splinter nor require refinishing either and when indoors, they don't corrode or rust with minimal maintenance. They are also great for outdoors. Some rustproof coating and occasional cleansing and they will last for many years.

Other materials such as inferior metals or vinyl in terms of railing options do not measure up to the stamina and look and feel of iron.

We had to decide between iron and wood. What made me puzzled was that decor of my porch and landscape had been made in wood. I was more keen to go in for wood because it would be in compliance with the outside of our house.

While I pondered material for the outdoor railing required for my house, wood seemed to be a choice that made sense because of the wooden accents on the house. The house was pale colored with wood accents. While I liked iron for my interior, I wasn't sure that it would work outside given that it would be dark in contrast with the house.

Looking at all the variables including maintenance and how long it would last, I decided to allow iron to be installed. I was very surprised at the results.

The startling transformation of wrought iron railings

The dark contrast of the iron really stood out and was breathtaking. The strength and appeal of the rich looking iron dramatically changed the house and caused us to add a few darker accents to match including some stained glass doors behind a scrolled iron screen door. The affect was superb and our neighbors stopped to comment on hoe nice it looked.

Not only did the house look great, we don't have nearly as much maintenance to worry about as we would with wood. When my elderly parents come to visit, I feel much better about the security of the iron railing as they climb our steep front steps.

I now have many wrought iron accents inside and outside my home including a patio set in my back garden and we are seriously considering wrought iron fencing to be put in as our next renovation project.
