Why People Love Wrought Iron Furniture
By Andrew Caxton

Wrought iron is exquisite when used in accessories for the home, for railings, gates, fences and even for wrought iron furniture. Wrought iron wall décor is also very popular and continues to be something you see matched with many types of decor options.

What wrought iron furniture choices exist?

Wrought iron coffee and occasional tables look great. They are often covered with smoked or beveled glass. In a kitchen, a wrought iron baker's rack looks delightful and gives you extra space for storage or display. In every room of your house, wrought iron can be used as furniture or accessories to add beauty and functionality to your space.

Wrought iron is versatile

Whether your taste is classic, modern, cottage or Gothic, wrought iron wall decor looks great. You can use laque grills, wall sconces, plant racks, iron framed mirrors, coat racks, shelves and photo frames. The choices are endless. Fireplace covers in wrought iron look fantastic as do mantel display items such as clocks, frames and candelabras. If you have wrought iron furniture or tables, you can have wall decor that looks great as well as light fixtures made of wrought iron as well. Wrought iron is very popular for every room of the house as well as for outside furnishings as well. You can have magazine racks and towel racks in your bathroom and perhaps your bed headboards or footboards are iron as well. Imagine an iron daybed in the spare room, a canopy bed in the master bedroom, blanket racks or plant stands in your hall.

How do you care for your iron furniture and accessories?

Because it's dark in color, it regularly needs dusting in order to continue to look good. Many people who use iron outdoors use protective coatings every five years or so in order to maintain the look and prevent rust or corrosion. Be sure any cleaners you use on your iron furnishings are safe for it. Avoid sanding or using harsh materials on your wrought iron if at all possible.

Wrought iron allows creativity with interesting designs and conversation pieces. While it used to be very expensive, today it's more accessible. Even spending a bit more on it is often acceptable to people because they know that the style will never be obsolete and iron is so valued by people as elegant that many people pass wrought iron heirlooms down to their children or grandchildren.
