Designing Your Shower - Tips To Make It Outstanding
By Christopher Brown

Shower stalls no longer have to be boring and drab. Just because your shower is practical doesn't mean it has to look practical. In today's market, you can customize your shower to fit almost any need you have or could even want.

Small bathroom? Consider a glass privacy wall. If you want your bathroom to feel more open, you might think about installing a half wall rather than a full partition between your shower and cabinets or toilet. Both the half wall and an opaque brick will not only enhance lighting, but it will also give you the comfort of a larger space.

And speaking of space, there are so many shower designs available, that you have an infinite number of designs to choose from. You can choose from oval to the traditional square/rectangular shower, or you can do away with the enclosure all together and turn your bathroom into a wet room. A curved shower provides elbowroom, but does not require a lot of space, which makes it a great pick for smaller bathrooms where a little more space would be nice. So no matter what size bathroom you have, you can choose a design that fits your specific needs.

The devil may be in the detail, but so is the comfort and enjoyment. One of the specific details to consider is choosing a showerhead that fits your style. Many showerheads are adjustable and can increase or decrease water pressure, massage or provide a number of different settings for the way in which the water falls. Size is important when choosing a showerhead, although the size of the showerhead will not determine water flow. It will determine, however, the way in which the water will fall.

You also need to decide whether or not you want a fixed showerhead. A showerhead with a hose may give you more flexibility in cleaning hard to reach spots, but some people will find the hose is bothersome and gets in the way while showering. Choose what's right for you, but consider the pros and cons of each type.

Some of the great accessories that are available now include shower controls, trays, rails and other add-ons that will add considerable comfort, appeal and convenience. Shower controls can allow the user to set temperature, water pressure and a number of other things, so it is something to look into when designing your shower.

Look to get accessories that make the design of your shower luxurious from start to finish. Adding shelves or trays can make organizing much easier, and you can have favorite hair and body products at your fingertips. If you have children, or anyone who might be prone to slipping and falling, look for inserts to add to the floor of your shower and add rails for grip. Many showers are designed with these types of things in mind. You just have to know to look for them.

And finally, choose your colors with care. Color can make all the difference in whether your bathroom and shower are relaxing or irritating. Good designs usually include warm tones that are inviting.

Thinking about the details can make showering comfortable rather than cumbersome, so think about the small things, and you will have lasting comfort and pleasure from the design of your bathroom.
