Unique Fireplace Placement

You walk into a home and you see the fireplace. It's in the living room. It's right where everyone else's is placed. It's in a great place. But, you can really use your imagination and create some interesting ideas here.
The family loves gathering around the fireplace in the living room. It's a nice place to get together and enjoy each other's company. But, there are unique places where you can enjoy a fireplace that doesn't include the living room or the family at all. These are classy locations that people take notice.
Bathroom
A few weeks ago, I wrote about a client of mine who wanted a fireplace in the bathroom. She picked up on this idea after she toured a million dollar home in her town. The fireplace was located nicely behind the hot tub. The window in front of the hot tub really completed that whole setting.
Fireplaces in the bathroom should be more of a luxury thing rather than a utility. So, you can't just put them anywhere. But if you don't have a hot tub, it's ok to install a fireplace anyway. Right by your normal tub is a perfect location. A ventless gel fireplace can be placed in the bathroom in a matter of minutes without any hassle at all.
Hallway
As you come in the front door, a fireplace makes a statement when it's sitting right there in the hallway. This applies to any entrance really as long it's not stuffed in a corner somewhere. There should be a prominent place in your entrance foyer, lobby or hallway where you can have a fireplace that will stand out and be noticed. Otherwise, there is no reason for it being there at all.
Bedroom
What is more romantic than a fireplace in the bedroom? Turn the lights down low. Turn the music on right. Get the fire roaring in the fireplace and you can have a very romantic evening. But, a fireplace in the bedroom would work for more than just romantic evenings. There are snowy days off and comfortable family evenings where everyone could crawl onto the bed, pop popcorn and watch a movie.
A fireplace can actually make a great addition to just about anywhere throughout the home. The family room in the basement needs a fireplace. The sunroom could use a fireplace. If you just walked around your home with this in mind, you would literally find a handful of fireplace locations. Have fun with it. You can get several ventless gel fireplaces for much less than you can pay to install a traditional.
