Everything You Need To Know About Driveway Repair

So there are cracks in your driveway and you want to know all about driveway repair? First you will need to thoroughly clean the driveway to get rid of all the little bits of dirt and small stones that can cause you problems. Wash it down with the hose and then allow it to dry. There are pails of driveway sealant that you can buy and the number of pails you need will depend on the size of your driveway. On average, a 5 gallon pail will cover about 300 to 400 square feet for an unsealed driveway. If you have had the driveways sealed, then one pail will go much farther.
If there are oil and grease stains on the driveway, you will have to try to remove them as much as you can. There are many different types of cleaners on the market and you can always use cat litter as a home remedy. It really works! Once you have scrubbed off as much of the stain as possible, you should use an oil stain primer to prevent it from showing through.
If there are any cracks, you need to fill them. This is the main reason for repairing a driveway. Water seeps into the cracks and then makes them larger when it freezes and thaws. Grass seeds spray on the driveway when you mow the lawn and these can take root in the small cracks. You should remove all grass and weeds growing up through the asphalt or concrete and then use a weed killer to keep it from coming back.
Once you have completed these chores, you can apply a sealant or paint to make your driveway look like new.
