When Building a House - Give Serious Thought To How You Layout the Bedrooms
By Sarah H

When constructing a house it is important that the home owner pays particular attention to the layout and design of the bedrooms. Many times people opt for prettier looking rooms that they have seen on Home Improvement television shows, however often this may not work as the layout is useless and not practical in the least. There are many things to consider when it comes to the layout of a bedroom, such as the color of a room and the effect of natural lighting, the proximity to bathroom areas, closet and storage space and general usability.

In a traditional house floor plan the master bedroom is located on the same side of the house as the other bedrooms. Most home owners think that this grouping of bedrooms is more practical, as they can have more control over children rooms. This type of layout can serve both as an advantage and disadvantage depending on the home owner's personal view point. With this type of bedroom layout, the privacy issue is minimal. The master bedroom tends to infringe in the space and dimension of the other bedrooms, many times this leaves children going through teenage-hood feeling crowded.

Another alternative which many home owners consider is a split-floor plan layout. Ideally this layout allows for the separation of bedroom area, creating a great deal of privacy for the residents of each room. Not only does it lend to more physical separation of bedrooms, but it also tends to give more space in areas that are highly populated within the house, such as the kitchen, living room and eating area. Many home owners prefer this type layout rather than a traditional lay out as it offers much more space and privacy within the house itself. One of the main advantages that this layout offers is the fact that the rooms are much more sound proof than in a traditional lay out.

When designing each bedroom it is essential for home owners to consider the maximum use of storage. Many times bedrooms are built without giving ample thought to storage and space ends up being wasted. Additionally bedroom flooring is of optimum importance when it comes to layout and design. Flooring can not only raise the aesthetic value of a bedroom but it also helps in controlling noise and comforting bare feet. The physical layout of bedrooms in a floor plan is as important as the interior layout!
