Welding Hoods
By Josh Riverside

Welding is a risky and hazardous process wherein arc radiation, air contamination, electric shock, fire, and explosion of compressed gases are the biggest dangers for the operators. The sparks generated by many welding processes are very hazardous to the eyes and face of the operator. Thus seeing the level of safety risk in a welding process, a helmet hood is inevitable.

As the process of welding requires great precision and concentration, it becomes very tiring at times. Thus, in order to lighten the work mood, various fancy hoods are designed to offer a unique combination of fun and function.

Welding hoods are available in various fancy models with customized designs and images. Skulls, flames, psychedelic designs, and animal themes are the most common types of designs. In fact, some of the fancier welding hoods are not only painted with these themes, but are shaped to resemble a skull or an animal face. These hoods not only provide a visual treat, but also protect the welder from the flying sparks and debris.

Although welding hoods are most preferred for their display value, they also provide the latest features and function of any other auto-darkening helmet. Most welding hoods are outfitted with the auto-darkening feature that allows the operator to view and prepare the work piece through a lens that reacts instantly to the arc and darkens to a selected shade level. Some of the fancy hoods provide a 30% larger viewing area and protects the user's eyes from UV rays and infrared radiation.

Welding hoods are also outfitted with analog controls, which enable quick and concise adjustments, such as 9-13 shade control, and lens sensitivity, wherein delays are controlled internally. Hoods are also fitted with four independent sensors. Moreover, these helmets are lightweight, comfortable and are well balanced for prolonged periods of usage.

Most welding hood models are CE approved which makes them more reliable, and off course, fun to use.
