Very strange experience when ordering kitchens: it really depends on whom you get assigned to your project. Even worse they are always understaffed, and if they have a sale going on, forget a call back! Also because their shifts are so variable, they play the game of passing the parcel between one another and so you have to keep repeating yourself to different people. After three near disasters, the head designer contacted me and he was much better to work with: knowledgeable and gave me practical advice. After making the final purchase, delivery was made on time: however when we opened the package weeks later (think foul weather later last year caused serious delays) we discovered that some items were missing. I called to speak with the lead designer only to find that he had left B&Q and several people took messages saying that I would receive a call back but to no avail. I finally escalated to speak with management, and even I though I believed that the message was faithfully passed on, management did not call me. I therefore called again asking to speak with management and they in turn put me on to the kitchen department. I was then told that the missing items would arrive more than two weeks later- never mind that I had engaged a carpenter to install the kitchen and would incur additional costs for the carpenter. When I highlighted this to Marchek(sp?) he told me that it was my fault and I should have done a thorough check of all delivered items!!! He also offered for the manager Paul, the department manager to call back. Do I ever believe that I will get a call from this manager? Perhaps someone with an ounce of shame may do so after they read this Product/Service Range 2

I have Insulated house, installed central heating, converted attic, re-built kitchen among many other works mainly from B&Q in Liffey Valley. I have also purchased a wide range of power tools from them, all very successful... but - recently the doors started t5o fall off the kitchen units - Vanilla Gloss finish. One door nearly caused a nasty accident. I brought this to the attention of Paul, the Manager of the shop. He took my email address and phone number - almost 8 weeks ago -and promised to call me back. I brought im out the door which had fallen off and pointed out to hium that the pressed in serrated locking on the screws from the door that fell was very poor and had obviously failed to lock the screws as designed.

I hate to complain, but this type of service is just not acceptable.
Paul at first said there was nothing they would do, and when I asked about the guarantee on the units he said it was 10 years unconditional. He only agreed to take my complaint on board when I asked him then to honor the guarantee and replace the kitchen.
I am most annoyed and upset at being treated this way.
Has anyone else had a problem with these hinges?
What would happen if, God forbid, a door fell on a child or injured someone - would they stand up and be counted then?

The rating choice does not appear to make provision for this eventuality, so I have scored poor for all in the hope that others using their hinges will take note and check them.

I am waiting for over 2 months for my fence to be delivered! I am ringing BnQ daily and I speak to the same person who is not at all helpful. I have been told on various occasions that I will get a callback but nobody ever calls me back. I asked for the manager who said he will prioritize this and will call me back tomorrow. Still waiting. Nobody knows anything in the store (Cork).
I was going to order a garden shed next but because of this experience i will NEVER order anything from BnQ again.
Customer service doesn't exist there.

have tried to call liffey valley to find out when my shower screen is arriving, which was meant to be in four days ago but no answer. I've been calling them for three days but no one has ever answered the phone. Very very poor service. Product/Service Range 4

I have never ever got customer service anywhere like I got in B&Q Tallaght. I went in looking for 9 door handles, of which they only had 6. Brid, the girl who I asked for assistance checked their stock shelves, when she couldn't find any more door handles there she proceed to phone all of the B & Q branches in the vacinity to see if they had any. When this failed she went on to check the stock off all branches countrywide on their database. It showed that the door handles were available in the Swords branch so Alison, the manager of the Tallaght store who was collecting somebody in the airport the following day offered to call into the Swords branch to collect the door handles. On arrival in Swords it turned out that they didn't have the exact handles so the girl phoned me that evening to explain the situation and offer to have the handles couriered up from Athlone. I said that I'd check elsewhere and get back to her. Two days later I received a call from B & Q to confirm if I still wanted the door handles couriered, I did, so B & Q Tallaght had them couriered up from Athlone and phoned me when they arrived! Great selection of products and staff are generally helpful though it can depend on who you get. The telephone service can be very slow and difficult to get through to. Product/Service Range 5
