Tegral Building Products are a manufacturing company with a modern factory producing Thrutone man-made slates. Part of the World-wide Etex group, we employ almost 400 people committed to the creation of quality roofing slates.

Since its formation in 1936, Tegral has made a distinctive contribution to the Irish building industry with a wide range of roofing and cladding materials that includes fibre-cement and quarried natural slates, clay tiles, profiled sheeting and continental cladding boards.

The establishment of a native cement industry in the mid-1930s encouraged
Tegral’s development. Using the Hatschek process, Portland cement, fibres and
water are combined to create stable, durable and lightweight building products.

Since 1988, Tegral has been part of the international building products company,
Etex Group. The company’s Athy factory, on the banks of the Grand Canal and
River Barrow, is one of the group’s most technologically advanced manufacturing
plants, processing over 100,000 tonnes of raw material annually.Reflecting its role
in creating tomorrow's architectural heritage, Tegral's Dublin headquarters is a
listed Georgian building, adjoining the new National Gallery of Ireland extension.

Tegral manufacture the Thrutone range of slates in Athy and market them throughout Ireland via a countrywide distribution network of Builders Merchants. In Northern Ireland, the company was formerly known as Turners and this name was successfully changed to Tegral in 2001 with all brand names remaining unnchanged. Tegral also have a Distribution Centre in South West Dublin ensuring speedy and efficient support for their Merchants customers in the Greater Dublin area.

All of Tegral’s products are manufactured to the highest international standards.
While Tegral products are primarily used in Ireland, there is an increasing demand
from overseas markets, notably the UK, Belgium, France, Germany and the USA.
