I have seen coving in hardware stores. it looks pretty easy to put up. Is this a job that an amature DIYer could tackle or should it be left to the professionals? |

hello kd
if you have lots of time on your hands and abundant patients anyone with basic diy could tackle coving. good luck |

Hi kd,
coving is easy to put up, but really really hard to cut properly (at least for someone with my limited spatial awareness...)
Always presuming your walls are straight and your corners are true 90 degree angles, it's not too bad. Ideally, you'll have a mitre saw or jigsaw that can cut inward and outward 45 degree angles. I had to cut paper templates to get my head around it, and it took me AGES! But once they're cut, you just stick them up with glue and tacks (I filled the holes afterwards with a bit of Painter's Mate).
As usual, preparation and attention to detail is key...
Hope this helps! _________________ Marion Hermannsen

Coving is job that i would definitely leave to the professionals, unless of course you really are quite good at diy. i'm based in mayo but in my old house we used a company call Plastercraft who are in Shrule, Co. Galway (Outside Headford). Can't recall prices as it has been quite a few years! But i do know they were the best value at the time, their workmanship was second to none and fantastic after sales service.
I've just googled them and found a number - 093 35860.
If you haven't the job done already, worth giving them a call anyway!
Best of Luck |
