Have you tried to heat the glue with a hair dryer perhaps to loosen the glue, it might come off in your hand then. might be worth a try.

Might be a little too late for you now but if you rub salt granuals on to the stain, leave for a few minutes and then hoover up, it should take most if not all of the stain with it.

Also had a problem similar to yours. Fixed it by changing cleaning products. Have used Cillit Bang in the past few months and have found the shower does not block up as much. hope this helps.
