We are looking for someone who can make the necessary alterations to our fireplace in order to install a woodburning stove. The fireplace opening needs to be widened and we want to put in a slate hearth. Is there anyone out there who has done this type of work before?

widening a fireplace ope is difficult as the conctete throath / head put in at the time of construction will only allow for very limited widening. when i installed mine i set the new stove in front (not within) the existing fireplace heart. to accomodate the flue i broke into the flue liner above the concrete head . then i widened the heart and set it up a height that allows the flue outlet of the stove to line up with the hole into the flue liner. put in slate, stove and stove flue and make good around flue ...thing about and look at cost of silo and auto /semi auto pellet feed from outside...

Is is necessary to install a chimney liner on a new single story fireplace for a new woodburner ?

Purchased a new woodburner from a "specialist" fireplace supplier in Munster and requested a contact that could install. Had woodburner delivered / dropped and have to wait 2 to 3 months for the recommended contact. Would like to know if a plumber can do this work or what is required to be considered a "specialist" ? Thanks for your comments.
