Would anyone know how much trouble this is to move tank and boiler further away from the back door. How high should the oil tank go and if this is a good idea (or bad ).

hello

moving boiler
select and prepare new location (DIY or handyman), disconnect pipework and fuel supply (plumber), disconnect electric (electrican), move boiler to new location (a few able bodies may including above tradesmen)

land boiler in new location, extend pipework from old location or install new lines. bring elect supply to new location.

moving tank
run down fuel in tank to low, drain remainder into cans, disconnect pipe, select new location and prepare base. [the outlet of the tank should be higher than the burner in your boiler. that is the burner is fed wit fuel by gravity from the tank] move tank and install new line from tank to boiler. fill tank. check and run the system.

the above project will require the input of good tradesmen at all stages to ensure all work is carried out in accordance with regs and all safety requirements are adhered to. a good plumber will do much of the work with help from an electrician and a handyman...
best of luck
